Orangutan Houseboating Tour — 3 Days / 2 Nights

Day 1 — Airport · Kumai · Tanjung Harapan · Houseboat
Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be picked up by your guide and driven 20 minutes to Kumai city. Here, board your traditional klotok wooden river houseboat (about 17m by 3.5m) with an upper deck. While enjoying lunch on board, we set sail towards Tanjung Puting National Park, entering the Sekonyer River.
Along the river, observe the lush nipah palms and look out for long-nosed proboscis monkeys, macaques, colorful birds, and occasionally estuarine crocodiles on the banks.
If we arrive before 15.00, we will take a short jungle walk to Tanjung Harapan to watch the afternoon orangutan feeding. Afterward, return to the boat and continue cruising in the peaceful evening. Dinner will be served on board under candlelight. Overnight on the boat with mattresses, pillows, and mosquito nets provided.
Day 2 — Pondok Tanggui · Camp Leakey · Houseboat
Wake up to the sounds of birds and jungle animals. After breakfast on the boat, we cruise upstream to Pondok Tanggui rehabilitation center. We will take a 20-minute trek into the forest to witness the morning feeding at 09.00 and learn about the babies and juveniles.
Next, we continue our cruise to Camp Leakey, passing the exotic black water river. Enjoy a fresh lunch prepared by our cook.
Arriving at Camp Leakey, we will take a trek into the lowland rainforest to learn about the orangutan habitat, followed by observing the feeding program at 14.00. At 16.00, return to the boat and float downstream. As night falls, we will anchor among the nipah palms to watch thousands of fireflies flashing in the trees while enjoying dinner. Overnight on the houseboat.
Day 3 — Houseboat · Kumai · Airport
After breakfast, relax on the boat as we cruise back to Kumai. We will transfer you back to Pangkalan Bun airport for your departure. Carry the magic of Tanjung Puting National Park home with you!
